Golden Island Buffet

I am not a critic; you know something is wrong when someone starts with that. I went to a Chinese buffet today that I have gone to before. Chaundra generally doesn't like buffets, so I go when I get a chance. I liked Golden Island Buffet before so thought I would like it tonight as well, however, I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant then I was tonight. I got there and the lady at the door seated me and was very friendly. I have no complaints about how I was treated - it was the food that was terrible. Granted it was 8:30 PM when I went and I hope it was a sign that they were just gearing up to close, but some of what I saw was just uncalled for. I generally like to eat the mussels, but they looked like they had been in that pan all day long. What used to have moisture in it now had dried up and the mussels had turned black. It looked disgusting. I like the fried noodles, but they were hard and sticking together. I would gather they had been out for a while as well. I had to scrape the red sauce at the bottom to hopefully get some for my cold Cheese puffs and egg roll. The Sushi person was gone and they had Sushi out that was starting to dry out.

Finally to top it all off I got my bill and it was $9.47. Take into fact that I didn't get anything to drink, I really felt cheated. I am sorry I could not bring myself to tip. I just wasn't going to pay anymore than that for what I got. They have lost me as a customer and I hope that they figure it all out. You could say that well you just got there to late, but I would just say that I was there and never saw any new food come out and the food that was out looked as if it had been out for awhile. I just can't pull myself to doing it again.

So if you decide to go to Golden Island Buffet on I45 south at the Beltway near Fuqua then be warned to either go early in the day or don't bother.

Thanks for the critique, I will avoid that place. Have you ever tried the Chinese buffet at Bay Area and 528, I am curious but buffets are hit or miss. I do love a good Chinese buffet, but don't get to go much cause Rob isn't a fan, and I like a review from a friend before going. So if you know a good on in the area let me know.
